Homeowners Association
The HOA has a monthly meeting where all the committee chairperson reports their activity for the month to all who attend the HOA meeting. A spokes person, from each committee, addresses the general assembly and gives a verbal report. In that report they will always make an appeal for more volunteers. This is your time to get to know the chair person and approach them after the meeting to join their group.
The HOA has a different roll at Ramrod. Their basic function is to provide committee activity as well as monitoring and submitting new committee opportunities to Ramrod Senior Housing, Inc’s board of directors for approval. Each committee has a chairperson, secretary and its members.
The Gazette
The Gazette is the monthly news paper put out by the HOA. It summarizes the previous month’s events and highlights pictures of attendees. Advertisers have an opportunity to place ads regarding their products. Usual advertisers are air conditioning, auto repair, book keeping,
Real estate sales, handyman services, electricians and more. This committee also provides a calendar of events so you can see what is being planned for the upcoming month. Join this committee and you will always be in the know. Some of the activities involve proof reading, photocopy, assembly of pages, stapling and distribution throughout the park.
If you find you have time on your hands and enjoy mind bending crossword puzzles, you will find those activities inside the Gazette.
Social
There are a number of Ramrod annual holiday events. The social committee meets on a monthly basis to develop fun activities, create budgets, plan center table decorations, and sign up volunteer to manage and run the events. Volunteers meet to plan table set up, table cloth and decorations for each event. Some of the most likely events are: New Years eve, Fourth of July, Halloween Dance, Valentines, Thanksgiving, just to name a few. If your talents and interests can contribute to any of the mentioned events, you will be quickly invited to join this committee.
There are also small gatherings of friends on Friday evenings and they are by invitation. Each month a new party organizer volunteers to host the next gathering. Some people go all out and have a theme and provide the main meal while others provide their coach, seating, and accept pot luck dishes that are brought their event. It is important to contact other attendees on the list to find out what they are bring so you don’t wind up with too much of the same dining category.
Bingo
Bingo is a very well organized event. It is held the second and the fourth Saturday of each month. The local community are invited to join in the fun. Ramrod tenants are encouraged to enjoy an evening of fun and sometimes financial rewards. If your coach is at the back of the park, bingo will send a golf cart to pick you up and drop you off at the end of the evening. Bingo is also run by volunteers so if this is your cup of tea, just contact the bingo director and offer your assistance. They will be happy to include you to the team.
Blood Bank
The blood bank committee is always busy obtaining blood donors. In addition to looking for volunteers the committee points out many health Do & Don’t suggestions. They have class presentations ( both from the park and guest speakers ) on how to have a pleasant and safe experience as well as help ensure a safe blood supply for our community. They work specifically with Life Stream Blood Bank. You will be pleasantly surprised to know that you build up points for donating blood. Those points can then be redeemed at the online donor store.
When you give blood regularly, you can join the gold club. That club has many regular donors and as a member, every platelet donor will automatically be enrolled and receive exclusive gifts to celebrate key milestones along their blood donating journey.
Comfort
We don’t always know when friends are not feeling well or when they require intensive care at the local hospital. This committee is very active in knowing who is and who is not feeling up to par. Once notified of a sickness or hospitalization, this committee provides friends and neighbors general information. A person’s health is very confidential so this group is tuned into how much information to share. A nice little get well card will lift spirits and encourage a speedy recovery. It is nice to know that we have a caring and nurturing group of tenants.
Bunco
Bunco is a dice game and if you are looking to relax and have fun, this group will provide more than you can handle. There is always a time when too many commitments can become overwhelming and you just need a mindless activity. Bunco is just a dice rolling game and you really do not need to know how the game works. That is because it is so simple and anyone can enjoy the game as well as other tenants. Bunco nights are always posted in the monthly Ramrod gazette.
Kitchen
The kitchen crew prepare the meals associated with social events. They also have certain certifications that are required in order to handle food service. If cooking, preparing and serving a great meal is your cup of tea, you can volunteer and become a part of the kitchen committee.
Planning, budgeting and preparing a meal for 50 – 75 people can be an awesome job but at the same time it is very rewarding. It give you an opportunity to show your culinary skills. Eating is America’s past time and one of those things that is always introduce with each visitor. SO Roll up your sleeves and get involved, we have a need and you could be our next solution.
The dish washing brigade also is a part of the kitchen function. We do not have a commercial dish washer in the kitchen, yet. We are in hopes of including it in the Ramrod Senior Housing, Inc., long range planning agenda.
Memorial
There comes a time in every life when our toil is over and we rest. As a way to honor the life of a friend, we come together to celebrate a life and enjoy telling specific stories that helped to lift or inspire our days. Many of these unique stories and experiences can lift the spirits of another tenant that may not be having a great day. A celebration is light and full of memories and thoughts of yesteryear. The committee keeps the tenant population aware of celebration of life services.
Neighborhood Watch
If you see something going on that is out of the ordinary, say something. Every Tenant at Ramrod looks out for each other. It doesn’t take a great deal of thought but at the right time saying something can be that catalyst need to remove an issue. Just as morning rituals take place it is easy to note when that routine is disrupted and it could be a neighbor that needs assistance. This committee is helpful in establishing necessary communications with our neighbors. Stray dogs that find their way into our community need to be rescued and the local county animal shelter can be a great help. Calling the local county animal control officers will be a step in the right direction to keep our walking community safe.
Potluck
Everybody loves a good potluck! They come with all kinds of different recipes and flavors. If you consider yourself a good cook, this will give you an opportunity to show off your stuff. Sometimes there is a potluck for the entire park and other times it is a small group of friends. We have a Friday night group of about 15 that meet on a regular basis. Usually during the dining experience, someone will volunteer to provide their coach for the next event. We have tenants that go all out with a theme and decorations others just set up and provide the venue. The host tenant provides the main dish like spaghetti, baked potato, salad or encourage party goers total each other to see what they re providing. This is a great technique because it will give a better variety of dishes at the gathering.
Recycling
On the campus there are three storage sheds at the South Gate, for separation of different materials. One storage shed takes in broken down cardboard Boses, another that gathers plastic and still another that collects bottles and cans. The committee keeps the storage sheds clean and neat. On a monthly basis they bring out the Ramrod truck load it up and take the goodies to market. Those monies go back into the general HOA operating account.
Rialto Chamber of commerce
If you are the type of person that likes to know what is going on within the local community, you will love this committee. You can attend Rialto Chamber meetings and mixers to keep up on community developments. This committee will report on the new mall constructions, new businesses moving into the city as well as meet the city leadership. This volunteer organization works with local businesses to make sure they have advertising and gain notoriety through the chamber. At the monthly HOA meeting the chairperson gives updates on what is happening within the local Rialto business community. Often we have a new business coming to town. “Guess who is coming to Rialto ?”
Welcome
On a monthly basis the Gazette will list all those new tenants who have moved into the park. The welcome committee organizes a small party for the new tenants in the Willard Hicks Pavilion. They invite special guests like the board of Ramrod Senior Housing, Inc, At this event each new tenant will introduce themselves and give a brief background on who they are and where they are from. They may even share their interests and leadership roles from their past. The committee is responsible for the introductions and luncheon menu. Sandwiches, punch, desert and punch are the norm for this event. Often times, quick little ice breaker games give way to prize opportunities.
Set Up and Tear Down
At every function where dining is included or in some cases where meetings will take place, we need to have the room organized and made ready for attendees. This committee works closely with different committees to make sure their event has tables, chairs and items necessary to ensure a successful event. The HOA meetings require the loud speaker system and this committee will make sure everything is ready and in place.
Taking down the set up and putting the table and chars in their proper storage areas also takes time and volunteers. If you are strong and enjoy physical activities contact this chairperson and volunteer, they always need more hands on deck.
